The XPrivacy protocol is one method to stop sensitive information from being released by software.
XPrivacy permits you to limit the kind of data an application can access. This is accomplished by providing fake or nonexistent information to the application.
You can limit data access to different categories, like contacts as well as location. If you restrict access to contacts, the app will be sent an empty list of contacts. The application could be sent to an address that is fake when it is not allowed access to your address.
